WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:13.640 This is Hacker Public Radio episode 4,108 for Wednesday the first of May 2024. 00:13.640 --> 00:18.000 Today's show is entitled, What's In My Bag. 00:18.000 --> 00:22.880 It is hosted by Swift 110 and is about 10 minutes long. 00:22.880 --> 00:25.480 It carries a clean flag. 00:25.480 --> 00:40.480 The summary is I describe what's in my bag. 00:40.480 --> 00:50.240 Everybody is me again, Swift 110, but it's been a while since I've actually recorded on 00:50.240 --> 00:51.240 here. 00:51.240 --> 00:57.480 I go ahead and start doing more, I guess I'll make up for the last time and go through 00:57.480 --> 01:03.520 my phones and see what I've recorded previously and go ahead and finally post them all here. 01:03.520 --> 01:10.200 I mean, they're not exactly time-sensitive information after all, so that'll be something 01:10.200 --> 01:12.200 to look forward to for sure. 01:12.200 --> 01:16.080 We're hearing a lot more from me in the future, so hopefully you like my voice. 01:16.640 --> 01:23.520 I'm sorry that my voice is a little trashed right now, it's just from being extremely happy 01:23.520 --> 01:30.720 and talking a lot of work, you know, and I was able to go skating last night and that was 01:30.720 --> 01:37.120 very exciting as well, so it is what it is, I'll take a sip of this water, see if that 01:37.120 --> 01:45.640 helps, you know, okay, it's not so pretty good. 01:45.640 --> 01:47.760 What am I going to talk about today? 01:47.760 --> 01:52.560 Let's do an installment of what's in my bag. 01:52.560 --> 02:04.440 Well, what's normally in my bag these days are the following, 15 inch, 2015 MacBook Pro, 02:04.440 --> 02:14.000 which means obviously I'm going to carry its parakeel adapter with it, so I've blown 02:14.000 --> 02:20.960 this to item right there, I'm going to also carry my iPad 9, again, that has a cable, 02:20.960 --> 02:26.280 it's an adapter at the end, so I'll make sure the charge that up whenever necessary, thankfully 02:26.280 --> 02:32.960 it's rare, but I'm able to do that with the iPad, okay, great iPad and charger. 02:32.960 --> 02:39.000 I also have a second cable that I got for pretty cheap that I really, really like, so I just 02:39.000 --> 02:44.840 carry that with me just in case I have another Apple device or somebody else needs to use it, 02:44.840 --> 02:51.520 I have that just in case they are, what else do I have, let's think about it, okay, so 02:51.600 --> 03:03.280 I have a multi, multi, yeah, fine, not fine, but multi power adapter, that's in the shape 03:03.280 --> 03:08.560 of a cube that I got from Target, thank you Target, not the Deus sponsor of this particular 03:08.560 --> 03:13.720 recording, but just a shout out nonetheless, because they hooked me up with that thing, it comes 03:13.720 --> 03:20.480 in really handy when you need to have several plugs for this device, you know, you're going 03:20.560 --> 03:26.560 to have a bit of a coffee shop and they just don't have that many areas to plug in, you'll 03:26.560 --> 03:34.160 have to talk, phone or whatnot, and it's nice to be able to add plugs and just make it more 03:34.160 --> 03:44.000 of a better experience for everybody involved, okay, great. I also carry, actually what I'm 03:44.080 --> 03:52.560 going to start carrying is at least two USB-C cables, it's overkill, but right now I have 03:52.560 --> 04:00.800 a four foot, four to six feet, you know, those are six, you know, it's a four foot or something 04:00.800 --> 04:08.960 like that, USB cable, that's pretty nice, like a braided coffee, USB-C cable, USB-A in the other 04:09.040 --> 04:17.360 and I'll plan on getting another six foot cable, pretty soon, gotta be coming handy, and 04:18.720 --> 04:24.800 those coming handy, you know, that I'm starting just using the short little cables, probably 04:24.800 --> 04:30.640 a lot of foot long, those are all I really need for a USB-C cable to charge my phone at night, 04:31.280 --> 04:37.120 just plug that into my MacBook Pro and just want to go, it's really convenient to use as well, 04:38.080 --> 04:47.440 and so pretty much cables, laser charge, my iPad as well as my MacBook Pro, and then of course, 04:47.440 --> 04:55.920 I'll carry clothing, you know, using shirts underwear for, no, at least two of each, and I 04:55.920 --> 05:02.480 tend to pack those, I'll fold those a certain way, and then put the laptop on them, and it helps 05:02.560 --> 05:09.200 cushion the laptop, the bottom of the bag, because there's no other cushioning available in that 05:09.200 --> 05:14.880 manner, so that comes in real handy as well. In fact, that reminds me, I wanted to go to a store 05:14.880 --> 05:21.040 in Union Market today, and because I don't have to be at work for a while, this is quite 05:21.040 --> 05:26.400 today to get on over there and see what they got, and man, something I need that I could really use 05:26.400 --> 05:34.160 that will help me in the daily life, so we'll work that out for a short, but also not, 05:34.160 --> 05:40.080 do I normally have my bag, my USB drives, my vent toy stick, a couple of other drives, 05:40.080 --> 05:46.240 I got my resume on it, so I try to have big enough drives, so that if I need to download 05:46.240 --> 05:51.760 operating systems, swap them all, I would not, I'm able to do so, transfer files from computer 05:52.240 --> 05:57.840 when I don't want to do it wirelessly, because as much as I love Katie, you can take a little 05:57.840 --> 06:03.840 time, when I could just transfer a boom and drop and be done using this thing that it's always 06:03.840 --> 06:11.040 a good thing in the heart options for sure. The bag I use is a simple $12 bag that I got 06:12.160 --> 06:19.200 from actually one of those discount stores, the tag union market, I'm really grateful to have it, 06:20.080 --> 06:27.360 you know, hopefully, you know, it'll last so long enough, the bag I really, really want 06:27.360 --> 06:34.000 it's from $10.2, and when I take, when I go get that, it gotta be something nice. I currently have 06:34.000 --> 06:41.760 a messenger bag from them that I got, hmm, and like 2012, and boy, it's been through it, so 06:41.760 --> 06:46.320 what I'm hoping is that they'll come through with their lifetime guarantee warranty on thing 06:47.120 --> 06:52.800 and that, I'll be able to get a brand new bag, that'll be amazing. So, a couple of things 06:52.800 --> 06:58.320 I'm trying to work on in the future, because I like, you know, you want to have a good bag, 06:58.320 --> 07:04.560 the sturdy, the waterproof, that's actually going to last, because the last thing you want to do, 07:04.560 --> 07:10.160 oh my goodness, and I've had this half in time and time again, is that one of the straps breaks, 07:11.120 --> 07:18.560 those y'all felt, you know, you definitely don't want that, and so I'm trying to avoid having 07:18.560 --> 07:26.560 an issue happening at all, and so, just kind of working on various upgrades. Now, we're 07:26.560 --> 07:33.200 guarding the woods in my bag right now, the laptop by itself is little four pounds, four and a 07:33.200 --> 07:40.240 half pounds rather, knees, and I pad by itself as a pound and the exact thing in the charging 07:40.240 --> 07:47.600 cables and stuff, that's probably another pound, once you add all that together, and a little bit 07:47.600 --> 07:54.480 of clothing, you know, that's quite a bit when you're carrying it, you know, walk a lot, you know, 07:54.480 --> 08:00.880 in the go a lot as much as I am, you just want to make it a lighter, my compact kind of scenario, 08:01.840 --> 08:09.040 and so, I look forward to getting a 13-inch framework laptop. That would be amazing because 08:09.040 --> 08:13.680 that's nearly three pounds, but that takes a pound and a half off of what I'm already telling, 08:14.400 --> 08:20.160 and that will be absolutely superb, just having that dog in your shingy, you know, it does 08:20.160 --> 08:25.680 mean a little smaller or a screen, I think it's a better screen than I have, and it's not good 08:25.680 --> 08:30.880 well, and definitely I'll get a much better, I'll get a better battery life out of it, 08:30.880 --> 08:37.920 and having a new machine will be faster and better as well. I have to actually do a benchmark 08:37.920 --> 08:45.040 and compare the two, because that one's using a U processor, you know, versus the HQ processor, 08:45.040 --> 08:52.400 that's been this 2015 MacBook Pro, the way for me to get a much better CPU, of course, we 08:52.400 --> 08:59.840 would get the thing works as team, I think, all that one's kind of having, but it's also kind of expensive, 09:01.200 --> 09:07.680 and I could use it, but that would really be spurging, and so we'll see how things play out 09:07.680 --> 09:13.680 into the future, but yeah, this has been an episode installment rather of what's in my bag, 09:13.680 --> 09:19.360 I'll be adjusting things periodically so that a lot of the function better, stay me in, of course, 09:20.320 --> 09:24.720 have a lighter weight that I'm carrying, but we're on this four and a half pounds, 09:24.720 --> 09:29.760 can be a bit much, it's not horrible, I'm definitely not doing what I used to do, 09:29.760 --> 09:36.720 where I would actually carry a T420 and an X20 one along with an iPad at the same time, 09:36.720 --> 09:42.000 and all the charging things that go along with that, so at least I'm, I've gotten better. 09:42.000 --> 09:47.200 See at the time, I would go out and about do what I need to do, travel by Airbnb, 09:48.080 --> 09:52.640 and it would be a situation where I just couldn't choose which laptop I wanted to carry, 09:53.520 --> 09:58.480 and so I would just say, hey, I'll carry both of those of library and walk with it like that, 09:58.480 --> 10:06.400 and that was fantastic and all, but a little bit older, I guess, a little wiser and just don't 10:06.400 --> 10:12.240 want to do that anymore. The only thing is I really, really prefer using Linux machines, 10:13.200 --> 10:19.840 as nice as that, believe some things I can do without thinking about it, and I've got to go look it up 10:19.840 --> 10:26.640 and whatnot, and so, you know, getting back to a Linux daily kind of program would be amazing. 10:27.440 --> 10:31.840 Well, it's all I have to say for right now, this is been Swift 110, 10:31.840 --> 10:37.440 and I hope you guys have a fantastic day, another installing of what's in my bag. 10:37.440 --> 10:42.080 You guys take care of yourselves, bye, bye. 10:43.200 --> 10:48.400 You have been listening to Hecker Public Radio at Hecker Public Radio.org. 10:48.400 --> 10:52.640 Today's show was contributed by a HBO artist like yourself, 10:52.640 --> 10:55.440 if you ever thought of recording podcasts, 10:55.440 --> 10:59.920 and click on our contributally to find out how easy it means. 10:59.920 --> 11:05.520 Hosting for HBO has been kindly provided by an onsthost.com, 11:05.520 --> 11:08.560 the internet archive and our synced.net. 11:08.720 --> 11:13.680 On this otherwise status, today's show is released on our Creative Commons, 11:13.680 --> 11:20.960 attribution for.0.0 international license.
